Crossings Playground Conceptual Design

Crossings is getting a new playground and we are so very excited to show you the design concept!

This playground is situated on a future school site and encompasses an area of approximately 5 acres. A community wide survey and forum was hosted on www.getinvolvedlethbridge.ca from March 21 - May 27, 2019. Based on the feedback we received from Lethbridge residents, we are excited to unveil our conceptual design.

The playground is designed to be:

  • All ages - activities for tots to teens

  • Accessible - activities for all abilities

  • Unique - different than other parks in the city

  • High Capacity - space to serve the future school population and the surrounding community

The playground features various themed pods that are interconnected in a plaza-style design. This promotes accessibility, ample seating, inter-connectivity, and aesthetic interest. The following play elements have been incorporated:

  • Super NetPlex: climbing tower with lookout, slides, climbing features and more (*accessible features) view here

  • Crab Trap: large net climbing structure view here

  • We-Go-Round: merry-go-round (*accessible) view here

  • Zip Track: 66’ in length (*accessible) view here

  • Smart Play Motion: toddler fun with 16 different elements (*accessible) view here

  • Natural Play Area including rocks, ropes, stumps, tree tunnels, cabin play structure view here

  • Games pod with pavement markings for snakes and ladders, twister, hopscotch and bean bag toss (*accessible)

  • All terrain track with lumps and bumps (*accessible)

  • Swings and more swings (*accessible)

  • Sled/Toboggan Hill

  • Various seating areas (*accessible)

  • A mix of surfacing including rubber, wood fiber and pea gravel strategically placed to promote accessibility.
