Opening day set for Cor Van Raay YMCA

​Get your swimsuits and sneakers ready because the City of Lethbridge and the Lethbridge YMCA are ready to welcome residents to Lethbridge's massive new leisure centre and the third largest YMCA in North America, starting May 4, 2019.

After nearly three years of construction, the Cor Van Raay YMCA at ATB Centre will open its doors to the community on Saturday, May 4 with full access to the aquatics centre, fitness centre, field house, gymnasiums, youth centre, track, child minding and indoor playground.

The opening of the Cor Van Raay YMCA completes Phase 2 of ATB Centre, an impressive 256,000 square feet of family fun built and owned by the City of Lethbridge and operated by the Lethbridge YMCA.

"This is a day I have been looking forward to since I first put my hand up to vote for this facility back in 2014," says Mayor Chris Spearman. "It will be wonderful to see Lethbridge families enjoying time together in this amazing space."

The Cor Van Raay YMCA at ATB Centre is home to an aquatic centre including two waterslides, a surf simulator, climbing wall, lap pool, lazy river, tots spray area, whirlpool and zero depth entry gentle wave pool. Visitors can also enjoy time using the gymnasiums, field house, indoor playground, fitness areas and running/walking track. In addition, the YMCA offers childcare services, child minding and programing in the youth room.

"The YMCA is thrilled to be a part of this project that will serve not only Lethbridge, but all of Southern Alberta and we would like to express our gratitude to the various levels of government and donors that made this project possible," says Stephen Mogdan, Lethbridge YMCA Board Chair. "We see this facility as a critical centre of the community that supports our goal of Building a Healthier Community and look forward to seeing people of all ages enjoying the many amenities and services within."

The Cor Van Raay YMCA at ATB Centre will be open Mon - Fri 5 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. (pool and fitness floor close at 10:00 p.m.), Sat and Sun 8 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. (pool and fitness floor close at 8:00 p.m.) and Stat Holidays: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
